A voter ID in India is a document that grants an Indian citizen the right to cast his/her vote during the election. The voters’ ID card is issued by the Election Commission of India to every Indian citizen of the age 18-years or above 18-years.

A voter ID is a mandatory requirement for an Indian citizen as it is an important proof of nationality and the card also can be used as a proof of identity, address, and the age. There are only two methods to apply for a fresh voters’ ID in India, they are

  1. Offline and
  2. Online method

Offline method is the oldest and the first method that was popular for many years, but, today most of the people prefer using the online method as it is a time-saving and easy process. Here is everything you need to know about Voters’ ID Maharashtra.

Step by step procedure to apply Voters’ ID Online

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer Maharashtra or click here instead

Step 2: On the home screen of the CEO Maharashtra, click the option “Online Voter Registration”or click here to skip

Step 3: Now, click the “Form 6” option and the website will redirect to the “National Voters’ Services Portal” website. Select the option “ Apply Online for registration of new voter/due to shifting for AC” by clicking the “click here” option below or click here to skip

Step 4: Now, a page with “Form 6” heading and a fill-up form will appear on the screen. The form default language will be set to Hindi; the same page has the options to change the language. To change the language, click the drop-down button above the heading or click here for the English form 6

Step 5: Start filling in the form with all the details carefully as requested. PS: Theasterisk (*) marked fields are mandatory to be filled.

Step 6: Once, you have started to fill the form; you will find the field on the form asking for the proof documents. The first field in this section will be to upload “Your Photograph”, to upload, click “Choose File” button and select the photo (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the destination on the device and hit the “open” button on the bottom and the file will be uploaded instantly.

Step 7: The next field will be to upload the “Age-Proof”, click the “Choose File” button and a box pops up, to upload, select the document (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the destination and click the “open” button and the file will be uploaded. Now, you will have to select the type of document that uploaded from the drop-down menu in the section.

Step 8:The last field will be to upload the “Address-proof”, click the button “Choose File” to upload and a box pops up, select the document (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the destination and then click the “open” button and the file will be uploaded. Now, in the end, select the type of document uploaded from drop-down menu near.

Step 9: Once, the filling in process is completed, fill in the “declaration form” section on the form with all the requested details and Hit the “Submit” button.

Now, the page will display an acknowledgment slip with a reference code on it. Save this reference number/ID for future purpose.

Status of the application

Currently, the CEO Maharashtra website does not offer the service on their website to check the status of the application submitted. However, the status can be tracked through the “National Voters’ Services Portal”

Step 2: On this page, Select the option “ Track application status” or click here to skip

Step 4: Now, on the page fill in the “Reference ID” as requested.

Step 5: Hit the “Track Status” button below after filling in this form

Now, the website will display the status your submitted application.

Download voters’ ID online

Step 1: Visit the official National Voters’ Services Portal or click here,

Step 2: On the home screen page, you will find on the right-hand side a heading “Citizen Information” with two options below it. Select the “Booth, AC, and PC” option or click here instead

Step 3: On the new page out of the two option available “Search by Details” and “Search by EPIC No”, select one of the options and then fill in the form that appears on the screen, enter the Name, Husbands name, date of birth, gender, State, and district. Enter all the details carefully and submit the form.

Step 4: Once, the filling in the task is completed, hit the “Search” button below

Now, the page will display the name if the name has been added to the voter’s list. Click on the name and the page will then display the voter’s details. On the down bottom of this page, you will find the option “Print” click this option and the details will be printed and downloaded.
